• Criterion #5: Locality (L).

  • The consistency maintenance algorithm may reduce the misses only locally (inter-block reduction), or globally (intra-block reduction).

• Classes:

  • Local schemes (l) as in [SMITH85, VEIDE86]
  • Global schemes (g) as in [CHEON89, TARTA92].

• Comment:

  • Obviously, this criterion is an extension of the restrictiveness criterion, and is irrelevant for the absolutely conservative schemes (those without any reduction of misses).
