• Criterion #6: Granularity (G).

  • The size and structure of the unit object varies from one consistency maintenance algorithm to the other.

• Classes:

  • Line (l) (cache block) as in [CHEON89]
  • Page (p) as in [WULF72, SMITH85]
  • Segment (s) as in [TARTA92]
  • Flexible object (f) as in [BRANT85, BENN90b]

• Comment:

  • To some extent, this criterion extends the selectivity criterion. In the case of fully indiscriminate schemes, this criterion is irrelevant.
