CLASSIFICATION (3) Restrictiveness
Criterion #3: Restrictiveness (R).
- The consistency maintenance related activities can be performed for preventive purposes (conservatively), or
only when absolutely necessary (restrictively).
Classes:
- Conservative schemes (c) as in [VEIDE86, SMITH85]
- Restrictive schemes (r) as in [CHEON89, TARTA92].
Comment:
- This criterion could result in a fine resolution (a measure called the level of restrictiveness, defined as the ratio
of absolutely necessary consistency maintenance related activities and the total number of performed consistency
maintenance related activities, averaged over the number of benchmark programs). The absolutely restrictive
scheme would have this ratio equal to 1.
